Trampolines
Trampolines have been around for many years now. It was invented by Larry Griswold and George Nissen during the year 1930. Children and adults use the trampoline not only for exercise but also for fun. Back then, the issue of safety is not really a big deal with regards to using the trampoline. Before, accidents are considered to be a part of using the apparatus. But as time goes by, many accidents are occurring, some are just mild cases but there are more and more cases which became more dangerous, and worse others are even fatal. That is why safety measures are now being used and considered to avoid or decrease the number of accidents.
Those who commonly get into accidents are mostly children especially boys. This is because they like to do more challenging and daring tricks and stunts because with these, they are having more fun. Boys usually would bounce the highest and do twists and somersaults. There are even those who try to bounce together and do other tricks and these often result to accidents. Some fall off the ground or land badly and lose their balance. That is why it is important for parents and guardians to always watch and constantly remind their children.
Another safety measure to avoid landing badly is to place the trampoline to a grassy area instead of having it on concrete or paved areas and on hard asphalt. It should also be on open space wherein there are no intrusions like branches or trees, clotheslines or posts or any other things that may cause interference or harm. There should also be no tools or objects or toys on the ground near where the trampoline is located.
Another reminder to parents and guardian is to strictly supervise and provide a watchful eye on their children. Do not let two or more children to use the trampoline at the same time, this is to prevent them from getting hurt.
Never use a trampoline when it is wet. It will also be of great help to place safety nets around the perimeter of the trampoline. This is of great benefit especially when there is an unexpected falling off to the ground or being thrown off the trampoline.
Always remember that prevention is better than cure. It is important to always ensure the safety of those who will use the trampoline and in general, in everything that we do. Always be reminded of the idea of safety first. For parents and teachers who have the first hand contact and connection with children, never fail to always remind the children of the safety measures to prevent any accidents from happening (either minor or major). Safety involves everything that the children do, either I or out of the home or school. Using the trampoline not only for exercise but also for recreation is not an exemption. So even if you are getting fun, enjoyment and pleasure with trampoline you have to always be precautious.
